PSA: Process Work

These are daily work logs that had to be filled up everyday. It would ask for the date, number of hours worked, and description of work completed. They help the group and I keep track of what we did each day. My teacher also looks at this to make sure each day was productive. This was work log was important because it keeps us thinking about project managment, which we needed to think a lot about because there wasn’t much time for this PSA assignment.
The calandar also helps us on our time managment skills. Each day would be crossed off in the beginning of class and we would schedule what the group needed to do for example, if we had to work on the script one day or when we signed out the camera on the moodle website.. etc. Every class something needs to be done or else the group would fall behind and the PSA video would not get finished on time.

This is the “Pitch” also known as,  The Video Project Proposal. The teacher will evaluate the idea for each group’s PSA video. This was all done in one day. The worksheet is very specific and asks questions about your chosen topic and what you plan to do with it. It asks for facts like who the target audience is, length of video, video goals and objectives, settings and resources, team members, etc.

While we were going on with this project, each indivisual had to study the language of video/film production. This was Appendix B of our project. This really helped when it came to doing our ten shots along with shooting the commercial.  (below)

The worksheet quizes us on what scene is, shot, frame, pan, dolly, tilt, zoom, long shots, medium shot, close up, low angle, high angle, cut, fade, dissolve, and wipe. (Above)

These are storyboards. They show frames of how each scene will briefly look like along with how each scene is going to be shot. For example, you will have to following boxes: Photography/Graphic, High angle/normal angle/low angle, and etc.  On the far right, you will have to fill out the audio, what the video is going to sound like. (You have to write everything in there, when the music starts, who’s speaking, when they’re speaking, etc.)

Reflection of this Project Experience:
This project was a challenge when it came to time management. Making the schedule and time table was hard and following that was also hard as well. I think the job I did was great, I got the work done on time and was a great leader. Each day was organized and if we were running late on the schedule, I would come for extra help to get the commercial done faster. I showed up everyday to meet the goals of each day. Yes I took ownership of the production and contributed everything that was uniquely mine. I took on my roles of this project responsibly and helped others in their roles as well. My favorite part of the video was planning what our video was going to be about in the beginning of the project, when I was listening to everybody’s ideas for what we should do for the PSA. My least favorite was when we were editing the video because my group knew that it was due very soon and we were rushing a little bit plus this is the first time working on a project on Premier Elements so that made it a bit harder as well. The fact we were using one computer, was stressed about the due date, and how it was the first time using the program made it a little bit hectic but worthwhile! If I was to do one more revision, I would take the music used for the commercial and make it fade in and fade out.
